A karaoke show is one night. A league connects multiple judged nights into a season, with published rules for points, attendance, and finals qualification.
A practical starting format: count each singer’s best six nights, allow one counting night per Monday–Sunday week, require four counting appearances, and offer ten finals places. These are starting settings you can adjust before the first night is published.
01 / PLAN THE SEASON
Create your league and publish clear rules.
- In the StageVotes host sidebar, open Leagues → Create a league season.
- Choose the host account and participating venues, then set the season name and dates.
- Set how many best nights count, the weekly limit, minimum counting appearances, finals places, and placement-point awards.
- Review the rules before making the season upcoming or active. Draft seasons are staff-only; upcoming and active seasons accept singer entries.
The default placement awards are 100, 90, 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, and 10 points. Places beyond that receive the final listed award. An optional participation bonus applies to an eligible completed performance, rather than simply checking in.
Rules lock after the first published night. Explain the format to singers before they join.
02 / CONNECT VENUES
Run at one venue or invite other hosts.
For a multi-venue league, the director copies the private venue invitation code. Another host signs into StageVotes, opens Leagues, and uses that code to connect a venue they own.
Venue hosts can operate their league nights. The director retains control of season rules, corrections, and finishing the season. Keep the staff invitation private; share the public season link with singers instead.
03 / INVITE SINGERS
Share the season link.
Singers join through the season page with their singer profile or as a guest. The public standings show their singer name and results. Their league view includes points, counting appearances, qualification status, and the nights kept or dropped from their total.
Guests should keep using the same browser. Their private entry receipt stays there; signing in from that browser lets them save the entry to a singer profile. Profile-linked entries follow singers across devices. StageVotes does not merge people just because their names match.
04 / RUN EACH NIGHT
Choose the counting song before judging starts.
- Open the season’s League nights tab and schedule the venue and local date. You can schedule ahead without attaching a show.
- Connect a judged StageVotes show before scoring starts. The linked night also appears in the host dashboard’s collapsible League nights section.
- Nominate one counting performance per member before that performance receives votes. Other songs remain ordinary karaoke performances.
- Run the show and collect every configured judge’s complete ballot for each nominated performance.
- Finish the show, then publish the league night to update season standings.
Publication requires all nominated performances to be completed with the required complete ballots. Olympic scoring requires at least five judges and drops the highest and lowest complete judge totals.

05 / FOLLOW THE SEASON
Placement points keep the standings easy to follow.
Season standings add nightly placement points, rather than raw judge scores from different venues. First, StageVotes keeps only the configured number of best nights per Monday–Sunday week. Then it keeps the singer’s best N results from those nights.
Example: with a weekly limit of one and a best-six format, two appearances in the same week contribute only the better night. Across eight eligible weeks, the best six results contribute points. Extra nights stay visible as Weekly limit or Outside best results.
The minimum appearance requirement also respects the weekly limit. Two venues in the same week cannot count as two qualifying appearances when that limit is one.
Tied nightly scores share placement points; two first-place singers are followed by third place. Season ties use total counting points, counting-night wins, then highest counting-night points. Any remaining tie shares a place.
06 / FINISH THE SEASON
Qualify singers and prepare the final.
Qualification includes only singers who meet the minimum counting appearances. Singers tied at the qualifying cutoff are all included, so a ten-place cutoff can produce more than ten qualifiers.
- Publish or cancel all remaining league nights.
- Open Overview → Finish season & qualify singers.
- Select an optional unlaunched tournament final, confirm the decision, and enter a reason.
- Launch and judge the final through the tournament workflow. Guest qualifiers can advance too.
Standings remain provisional until the director finishes the season. Finished standings and rules lock. The final competition determines its champion separately from the season points table.
07 / CORRECTIONS
Keep changes accountable.
A director can import a historical scored show with a reason; imported nights are flagged publicly. Corrections to published results also require a reason and are recorded in the activity log. Republishing replaces the night’s points without awarding them twice.
Before your first league night, practice with a test show: enroll singers, nominate their songs, complete the ballots, and check the standings after publication.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Karaoke league questions
How are karaoke league points calculated?
StageVotes awards points for placement on each league night. The weekly limit is applied first, then the best configured number of nights count toward season points. Extra results remain visible without increasing the total.
Can a karaoke league include multiple venues?
Yes. A director can invite other hosts with a private venue invitation code. Each host connects a venue they own, while the director controls season rules and finishes the season.
Can singers join a league without an account?
Yes. Singers can join as guests or with a singer profile. A guest entry is saved in that browser and can later be claimed by signing in from the same browser. A name alone is never used to merge entries.
Does every song a singer performs earn league points?
No. Staff nominate one counting performance per member for a league night before that performance receives votes. Extra karaoke songs do not automatically earn league points.
