BEFORE YOU START
Keep the music player and show manager together.
KaraFun plays the karaoke audio and video. StageVotes manages singer signup, rotation, and show controls. Connecting them lets StageVotes send upcoming songs and issue playback commands to the running KaraFun session.
You need access to KaraFun, its current remote session, and your StageVotes host account. Open KaraFun on the computer supplying the music, and keep it running throughout the show.
StageVotes does not supply karaoke recordings or a KaraFun subscription. Make sure your playback setup and KaraFun access are ready before testing the integration.
01 / SAVE YOUR REMOTE SESSION
Add the KaraFun link to your account.
- Open the KaraFun player and enable or open its remote session.
- Copy the remote link or channel number shown for the current session.
- In StageVotes, open Account → KaraFun Integration.
- Paste the link or number into KaraFun Remote Link or Channel, then save your account settings.
Use the remote session for the player you intend to control. If the player gives you a different remote channel later, update the saved setting before reconnecting.
02 / CONNECT THE SHOW
Connect from Mission Control.
- Open tonight’s show in the StageVotes host dashboard.
- In Mission Control, select Connect KaraFun.
- Wait for KaraFun Connected. If you see Start the KaraFun player, open or restart the music player and allow time for reconnection.
- Make sure the KaraFun remote session permits queue management and playback control. A reachable session without those permissions may not accept the host’s commands.
Leave the host dashboard and KaraFun player open. Check the connection indicator before relying on playback controls.
03 / TEST BEFORE PEOPLE ARRIVE
Run one controlled practice performance.
- Add a test singer and song to your StageVotes queue.
- Confirm that the expected song and singer appear in KaraFun.
- Use the KaraFun play control in StageVotes and confirm that the correct song begins.
- Try Pause KaraFun Song, then resume playback.
- Review the show’s automatic-advancement setting. If you want to decide when each singer starts, use the manual workflow and check KaraFun’s playback settings as well.
- For a judged event, test judge access and ballot completion before relying on singer advancement.
Skipping to the next song changes KaraFun playback. Use Skip to Next Song deliberately, confirm the next singer and song, and complete the required judge ballots before advancing a judged performance.
TROUBLESHOOTING
When the connection or queue does not look right
KaraFun will not connect
Check that the player is running and the saved remote link matches its current session. Open that remote link in a browser on the host computer. If it fails there too, check the network or KaraFun session before changing the StageVotes queue.
If it works on a hotspot but fails on venue Wi-Fi, the network may be involved. Compare with a different connection and review VPN or network filtering settings.
The session connects, but play or pause does nothing
Check the remote session’s playback permissions and confirm the player is online. Verify which singer and song are currently loaded before retrying. Avoid sending repeated commands while a previous request is still pending.
The next song in KaraFun differs from StageVotes
Review both queues, especially after a manual edit or song change. A Host IQ queue alert may offer a sync action when available. Check the proposed action before applying it, and keep the current performance in mind.
The connection drops during the show
Keep managing the StageVotes singer queue and operate KaraFun manually while you restore the connection. Restart the player if needed, check the channel, then reconnect. Confirm the current and next songs before resuming integrated control.
